What does “agape” mean?

Agape is one of several Greek words translated into English that means “love.” As Christians we understand this to be the kind of love that Jesus demonstrated for us. Agape love is unconditional and voluntary. It is not discriminating; has no preconditions and it is something that we decide to do. We love without expectation of something in return.
